Katey Purgason, ACNP-BC, is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner at Cardiology Associates of Frederick, serving adults in and around Frederick, Maryland.
Katey began her professional education at Salisbury State University in Salisbury, Maryland, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Afterward, she worked as a critical care and emergency nurse while completing her Master of Science in nursing at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Once again, Katey graduated Summa Cum Laude and obtained dual certifications as both an acute care nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist. Following graduation, she went on to publish her master’s research on “Stress-induced Cardiomyopathy.”
Since launching her career, Katey has served as a nurse practitioner in various settings, including emergency departments, critical care and intensive care units, and observation medicine. Currently, she specializes in cardiology and has experience in hospital and private practice settings.
Katey has specialized training in implantable cardiac devices and electrophysiology. She’s a proud member of the Heart Rhythm Society and enjoys helping the individuals in her care achieve optimal health.
